Gardens – Landscapes
Gardens – Landscapes – 11th Sept – 10th Oct
Louis Turpin’s new exhibition is the first one in Rye for over two years and includes a collection of 30 new paintings. The work represents his journey through life, not only as a painter but also as someone living and working through lockdown. His signature artworks express a joy in colour and a celebration of nature, returning to the artist’s roots, referencing composition and structure.
Entry to this exhibition is free.
The exhibition runs from 11th September – 10th October 2021
In Conversation with Louis Turpin
WEDNESDAY 15th SEPTEMBER 17:00 – 19:00
Tickets: £12 (including refreshments) from Rye Art Gallery
This event will give the audience an opportunity to hear Louis Turpin and Julian Day, curator of Rye Art Gallery “In Conversation” and discuss Louis’ new exhibition Gardens – Landscapes which opens on 11th September.
“The process of painting is so thoroughly ingrained in me that when posed the question ‘Practice?’, I am taken short. I am obliged to think through the events that take place between moving in the garden, walking through a landscape and standing at my easel. Here, in front of the painting of the moment I have to ask the closing question, is this painting complete? The finishing of the painting is as big and mysterious a question as its birth.”
